About Milwaukee Opera Theatre

Our mission is:

  • To serve the people of Southeastern Wisconsin by providing them with quality family opera performances for a modest cost
  • To provide singers who are beginning their professional careers with opportunities to perform in fully-staged and costumed productions
  • To develop new opera lovers by making opera more accessible.

If you have never attended an opera before, for whatever reason, we invite you to join us for one of our performances. We make opera accessible to everyone!

Milwaukee Opera Theatre was founded in 1999 under the leadership of Charissa York. Grantors include United Performing Arts Fund (UPAF), Support of Opera Singers (SOS), Townsend Foundation, Joseph and Vera Zilber Family Foundation, and the Greater Milwaukee Foundation.
